Dané Badenhorst from Meyerton in Gauteng became a Jumping Kids beneficiary this year, 2024, after her parents reached out to the organisation for prosthetic assistance and rehabilitative advice.
Dané was born with a missing lower limb on her right side – a congenital condition that occurred in the womb. Since being fitted with her first prosthetic limb, she is coping well and developing on par with her able-body peers. She can master all the early development milestones associated with being a toddler and is a happy, healthy little girl.
In cases like Dané ’s, early prosthetic intervention is key. The sooner kids born with these types of physical challenges can be assisted, the easier it becomes for them to adapt to their prosthetic equipment and just get on with all the fun things associated with being a child.
It is of vital importance that little Dané remains part of the Jumping Kids initiative to ensure that her prosthesis is regularly updated and maintained as she grows and develops.
Dané was selected as a The Star Foundation candidate in 2024.
