After a long struggle with bacterial infection and more than 17 operations, Megan insisted that her right leg be amputated through-knee on September 18^th 2012.

The young girl from Wolwekraal received her walking leg  in October 2012, and her first running blade at an event with, Arnu Fourie in November of the same year.

Megan works hard at achieving her academic & sports goals. She is a case in point that under-going amputation can be the start, instead of the end,  of something.

One to watch*

Since becoming a Jumping Kid…

• awarded an honorary gold medal for participating in her first athletics event (January 2013)
• taken up sprinting, long jump, field atheletics and netball
• represented the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund at various events including the Ro3 Oasis Water4Good event (2012),  Warrior Race Series, the StepUp500 Challenge and the Celebrity Cycle Tour (2013)
• won two gold medals for Gauteng in the u/16 T42 category in the 100m (21.17s) and long jump (2.32m) at the 2015 Nedbank National Championships for Physically Disabled
•  won the gold, and set a new SA Record, in all four her Girls under 16 T/F42 items – Javelin (16.34m), Shot Put (6.32m), 100m (19.79s) and Long Jump (2.86m) at the 2016 Nedbank National Athletics Championships for Physically Disabled 
• won Outstanding Achievement in Athletics at Laerskool Brits (2016)
• won four gold, set an African record and three SA records – (Girls 16 T/F42 100m 19.03s (Gold, SAR, AFR, WQS), Long Jump 2.69m (Gold), Shot Put 06.66m (Gold, SAR), Javelin 18.24m (Gold, SAR)) – at the 2017 Nedbank National Championships for Physically Disabled
• won gold and set a new African record(18.57s) in the 100m Female U-18 event at the 2017 International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) World Games
