Story
Sphelele Dlamini was born with a condition that lead to the amputation of both his legs below the knee shortly after birth.
Getting around on state-issued prostheses since he started to learn how to walk, Sphelele became a Jumping Kids ambassador in 2014 while he was still a learner at Open Air School in Glenwood, Durban.
Through the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund and its affiliates – Tyrone Pillay, Johan Snyders and Michael Stevens – Sphelele was fitted with his first custom-manufactured prosthetic equipment.
In 2022 Jumping Kids assisted Sphelele to take the opportunity to play Wheelchair Basketball in France. Jumping Kids sponsored Sphelele’s fight tickets and helped him with his visa application to make sure he could follow his dream of playing professionally abroad.
