On August 12th, the Pretoria charter of the Round Table initiative is hosting a day of action cricket, at Bull Ring Action Cricket in Centurion, to raise funds for children living with leg amputations associated with the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund.
Round Table Southern Africa exist to make impactful change in communities by retaining and growing its members; professional young men between the ages of 18 and 40, willing to give up their time, and skills to give back to those less fortunate; to drive impactful change.
“This is the second year that Round Table Pretoria 136 is hosting a fundraising event to aid the young beneficiaries of the Jumping Kids charity, a remarkable organisation that helps provide prosthetic limbs to children in need. By participating in this event, you’ll be supporting a fantastic cause and making a significant impact on the lives of individuals who require prosthetics,” says Wian Vogel on behalf of Round Table Pretoria 136.
The Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund is a registered non-profit organisation that was launched in 2009 to address the need of children from previously disadvantaged communities, living with lower limb amputation or deficiencies, who need prosthetic intervention to be independently mobile, attend school and participate in sport.
The charity, that is based in Pretoria but assists children from across the country, has championed more than 300 children since its start in 2009. Recently, one of the charity’s beneficiaries; grade 11 learner, Puseletso Mabote; achieved a fifth-place finish, with an African record time, in the highly contested Men’s 100m *T63 final at the Paris 2023 Para Athletics World Championships in France.
“Access to sports participation opportunities, along with access to the necessary prosthetic equipment and access to quality education, form the pillars of the Jumping Kids philosophy. We are grateful to partner with Round Table Pretoria 136 to raise funds and help more children in our care” comments Jumping Kids representative, Fred Furstenberg.
